Big Island police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Rainbow Falls Park in Hilo.

Big Island police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Rainbow Falls Park in Hilo.

About 3 p.m., a 49-year-old man visiting from Beijing reported to police that he had been assaulted by a man and robbed of his belongings while near the bathroom area of the park, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The man was part of a larger tour group but separated himself from the group when he went to use the restroom.

The suspect was described as being in his 30s or 40s, about 6 feet tall, with a medium build, according to police. He was wearing a dark blue shirt with light colored stripes and dark colored pants.
